NC General Assembly again amends the Medical Practice Act.
- Applicants must prove that they have graduated from a 4-year medical college.
- Only physicians licensed by the Board of Medical Examiners are authorized to practice medicine.
- Specific acts of wrongdoing for which the Board can rescind a physician’s license are listed. These include drug abuse, abortion, grossly immoral conduct, false advertising, unprofessional or dishonorable conduct.
- License fee is raised to $15; for physician from out of state moving to NC, the fee is $50.
- The records of Board actions become public.
- The definition of the practice of medicine is refined to exclude other health professions, such as pharmacy, chiropractic and othrs. Osteopathy is categorized as a separate profession.
