Additional changes to the Medical Practice Act. The new version expands the definition of the “practice of medicine and surgery,” allows the Board to regulate the disposition and disposal of medical records and to appoint a custodian for abandoned patient records, allows the Board to use hearing officers to provide over disciplinary hearings and provides greater access to information by patients and others who lodge complaints with the Board about a licensee. It also changes the Board member selection process, and authorizes greater citizen access to information on physicians and physician assistants.
