NCMB adopts expedited MD/DO license application

Effective August 1, the NC Medical Board is offering a streamlined application for experienced doctors seeking licensure in NC. Please note that the expedited process applies only to new applications for full physician licenses, not to annual license renewals. The Board expects that about 20 percent of applicants for a new physician license will qualify for the expedited application. A streamlined license application for physician assistants is in the works and could be in effect as soon as this fall.

Physicians who have started an on-line application for a full license prior to August 1, 2010, and want to convert to the expedited license application will be required to withdraw their application for a full license, request a refund and reapply once the expedited application is available on-line.
