Brevard Emergency Physician appointed to NCMB

Gov. Josh Stein recently appointed emergency physician Greg McCarty, M.D., to the North Carolina Medical Board. Dr. McCarty’s three year term begins Nov. 1.

“I am honored to be appointed to the North Carolina Medical Board,” Dr. McCarty said. “It’s a privilege to represent the medical community of western North Carolina and help uphold the highest standards of care for our state."

Dr. McCarty, who lives in Brevard, is Chief Medical Officer for UNC Health Pardee in Hendersonville. He is also an attending physician working in hospital emergency departments in Columbus, Gastonia, Henderson and Lexington counties. In addition, Dr. McCarty serves as medical director for Global Medical Response Emergency Medical Services.

Dr. McCarty earned his medical degree from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and completed postgraduate training in emergency medicine at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is a fellow of both the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.
