Grant to fund three additional opioid CME panel sessions

NCMB and Wake AHEC have received grant funding to pay for three additional opioid panel discussion sessions in North Carolina this year. This will bring the total number of free educational sessions offered through NCMB’s statewide training collaboration with Wake AHEC to 24.
The three latest panel sessions are planned for Franklin, Lee and Johnston County, though final dates have not been established for all three locations. All sessions will be held by June 30. Visit our CS CME resource page to browse a list of completed and scheduled panel sessions.
NC AHEC (Area Health Education Center) previously awarded the two organizations grants in 2017 to support development of numerous opioid panel discussion sessions. Each session is offered at no cost to controlled substances prescribers and provides two hours of continuing medical education (CME) credit. Grant funding also paid for a free opioid prescribing webinar that is available online and provides one hour of credit. Viewing the webinar and attending one panel session earns enough CME credit to satisfy the controlled substances CME requirement implemented in July 2017.
