As of January 1, 2026, the state of North Carolina will be a full member of the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact. The North Carolina Medical Board will begin accepting applications for NC Compact licenses from physicians in other Compact states on that date. In addition, physicians licensed in NC who wish to obtain Compact licenses in other states may begin the application process starting Jan. 1.

NOTE: All potential applicants for Compact licensure must begin the process by registering for an account on the website of the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact Commission.
