Image for On the podcast: Understanding the corporate practice of medicine The latest episode of MedBoard Matters delves into a complex topic that brings licensees to NCMB's attention on a regular basis: the corporate practice of medicine.

State law requires that medical practices be owned by medical professionals licensed by NCMB. Too often, however, NCMB investigates situations where licensees get involved in helping to run medical practices owned by non-physicians. Often, evidence in such cases shows that the licensee is aiding and abetting the unlicensed practice of medicine, which is a misdemeanor crime.

Podcast guest Marcus Jimison, NCMB's Deputy General Counsel, discusses the types of business relationships that get licensees into trouble, how to recognize them and why state law does not allow them.

Listen now to avoid business decisions that could come back to bite you.
