CDC provides clinical guidance on measles

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has published clinical guidance to help physicians and others who may have limited or no clinical experience with measles properly recognize, diagnose and treat the illness. The guidance comes in the wake of a recent outbreak of measles that began in December at the Disneyland Resort in California and has since spread to six additional states and Mexico. To date, no measles cases related to this outbreak have been reported in North Carolina.

Clinicians are advised to consider measles in the differential diagnosis of patients with fever and rash and ask patients about recent international travel or travel to domestic venues frequented by international travelers, and to ensure that their patients are current on MMR vaccine.
