NEW! Information reporting guide at right.

Welcome to the resource page for the Board’s enhanced Licensee Information project.

This page is designed to answer basic questions about the Licensee Information initiative, which greatly expanded consumer access to public information about licensed physicians and physician assistants.

It may be helpful for licensees to refer to this page for guidance before logging in to complete or update their licensee information pages. If you are ready to enter your information, click here or click the green “Start” button at right.

This page includes:

  • A brief overview of the project and notice of licensee’s statutory obligation to provide certain required information.
  • Detailed lists of both required and optional information to be collected and published at www.ncmedboard.org
  • Downloadable copies of the NC statutes that direct the Board to collect and publish licensee information and the Medical Board rules that specify reporting criteria for malpractice information and misdemeanor convictions. (See buttons at right)
  • A sample licensee information page that provides examples of entries for both required and optional categories.
  • Licensee Information Page FAQs (See green Quick Links box at far right).

OVERVIEW

Recent changes to North Carolina law require the Medical Board to collect and publish certain information regarding its licensees. The Board wants to insure that the information it collects is accurate and complete. Your assistance is essential to the success of this project. Expanded licensee information pages went live on this website in December 2009.

Although licensees are required to report certain information, the Board is also providing physicians and physician assistants with the opportunity to provide a broader range of information about the accomplishments they have made in their medical education, training and professional careers. The Board believes the public benefits from having access to this information. Licensees are encouraged to make use of the many new optional categories of information.

Because some of the requested information is required by law, the Board may consider failure to provide required information unprofessional conduct, which may result in disciplinary action.
