Accessibility Statement
The North Carolina Medical Board (NCMB) is committed to ensuring accessibility to all individuals, including people with disabilities. NCMB strives to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), including Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
Our Commitment
NCMB is actively working to improve the accessibility and usability of its website. Our objective is to provide an equitable and barrier-free experience for all users, regardless of ability, assistive technology, or preferred method of access.
Accessibility Standards
NCMB’s digital content is designed and developed to conform with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines provide measurable standards for content that is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. Accessibility practices implemented include, but are not limited to:
- Providing alternative text for non-text content;
- Ensuring sufficient color contrast and readable typography;
- Supporting keyboard-only navigation for all interactive functions;
- Using semantic headings, labels, and page structure for clarity;
- Providing captions, transcripts, or equivalents for multimedia;
- Ensuring forms have descriptive labels and are compatible with assistive technology.
Continuous Improvement
NCMB regularly evaluates its digital assets through a combination of automated scanning tools, manual accessibility audits, and, when available, user testing with assistive technologies. Starting April 24, 2026, all new or updated content is reviewed prior to publication to maintain accessibility standards. NCMB recognizes that accessibility is an ongoing effort and is committed to continuous improvement.
Document Accessibility
Documents on the NCMB website provided before April 24, 2026, in PDF or other formats may not be fully accessible. If you encounter a document that you cannot access, please request an accessible version at ADA@ncmedboard.org or (919)-326-1100 x460; NCMB will work with you to provide the content in an alternative format and will prioritize remediation for future use.
