Social Media Comment Guidelines
The North Carolina Medical Board (Board) uses its website and social media to interact with and educate licensees and members of the public about the role and function of the Board as well as improving the practice of licensees. All posts and comments are subject to review by Board moderators in accordance with this policy. The Board reserves the right to archive or remove any post or comments that do not pertain to the Board, the topic being discussed, or contain any of the following:
- Abusive content, including hate speech, harassment, bullying, threats, defamation, or discriminatory language towards any individual or group.
- Advertising, solicitations, or promotional materials.
- Confidential or non-public information, including but not limited to personally identifiable medical information.
- Content that constitutes, promotes, or solicits illegal activities.
- Content that is profane, vulgar, obscene, or otherwise deviates from courteous and respectful discourse.
- Graphic violence or content that promotes violent attacks.
- Nudity or sexual content.
- Spam or links to other sites that are not relevant to the purpose of this site or the topic being discussed.
- Unauthorized use of intellectual property or copyrighted material.
The Board encourages and welcomes comments posted on its website or social media platforms. While comments will be moderated for the above, it is the Board’s policy to not archive or remove speech that is constitutionally protected.
