Administrative Investigations Investigative Coordinator
The Administrative Investigations Investigative Coordinator is responsible for the daily overall management of a complaint case received by the North Carolina Medical Board (“Board”). This position is responsible for complaint case management from case initiation to conclusion, including monitoring and documentation of case status, moving cases through the complaint process expeditiously, responding to telephone and email inquiries, and sending case correspondence documents.
Responsibilities:
Accountable for case management of Complaint cases: create initial complaint case file, communicate professionally with complainants and licensee requesting pertinent information relative to the complaint. Create modifications to the letters according to the specifics of the case.
Responsible for researching investigative files and gathering documents for the Board database to accurately document all historical and current Board activity related to complaint cases.
Initiate discussions and collaborate interdepartmentally and with leadership on complaints that may need additional review in the investigative process.
Convert documents to searchable text form for case management accessibility and searchable text case review. Review and redact documents according to protocol.
Respond to internal staff and Board member requests for additional documentation.
Prepare committee and Board reports and reviews report extractions. Respond to questions regarding reports and extracted cases.
Attend monthly staff case meetings and bi-monthly Board meetings. Participate in Board meeting duties to include displaying reports, recording Board Actions, and producing the work notes along with other reports for public reporting.
At the conclusion of the Board meetings, produce the work notes and assign cases to the appropriate department.
Requires providing knowledge to the public on many subjects, including but not limited to: release of medical records, billing, Medicare/Medicaid, other appropriate referral sources and a working knowledge of the North Carolina Medical Board. Instruct callers on how to submit complaints and licensees on how to submit complaint responses which requires working knowledge of the North Carolina Medical Board’s website
Provide back-up support to ensure coverage for all job functions within the Administrative Investigations Staff as required.
Skills:
Work independently with minimal supervision
Proficient with Microsoft, Excel, Adobe utilized by the Board
Accurately enter information into a proprietary online platform
Proficient with Internet navigation
Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities, prioritize scheduling of work and caseload, and work within established deadlines

Education and/or Experience:
Two-year or four-year college degree preferred
Minimum of two years of relevant work experience in a health care environment, regulatory / administrative agency environment, or legal environment
