About the Board

Perfusionist Advisory Committee Meetings

The Perfusionist Advisory Committee (PAC) may conduct investigations into alleged violations of the Perfusion Licensure Act, and if necessary, conduct disciplinary hearings to determine the validity of any allegations that a perfusionist may have violated the Act. The PAC currently holds meetings twice a year.

2. Approval of Minutes a. Minutes of the meeting held on November 07, 2013 Staff Recommendation: Approve the minutes of the November meeting.

4. Licenses Issued a. Perfusionist licenses issued since the last PAC meeting. Staff Recommendation: For information only.

5. Change to ABCP Recertification Policy a. At the September meeting, the Committee discussed the changes that the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) has made to its recertification process. The Committee decided to add a question to the license renewal process regarding the amount of cases pumped. Mr. Jimison will report back to the Committee after reviewing the ABCP’s Booklet of Information for clarification. Staff Recommendation: For discussion

6. Converting Provisional Licenses to Full a. When provisional licenses are converted, their renewal date is set for two years from the date the license was converted. So, these licensees typically go three years with a license without having to answer the renewal questions. Would the Committee like to add renewal questions to the conversion process? Staff Recommendation: Add renewal questions to the PLP to LP conversion process. b. Mr. Hodges would like clarification regarding license conversions of PLP’s who had “less than pristine” applications. Staff Recommendation: For discussion.

7. PAC Vacancy a. The Allied Health Committee will interview the candidates at its January meeting. b. Staff has been in contact with the NC Hospital Association regarding a replacement for Ms. King. Staff Recommendation: For information.
