Completing death certificates for patients who succumb to COVID-19
The state Office of the Medical Examiner has issued guidance on completing death certificates for patients who die of complications related to COVID-19.
The guidance urges physicians and other clinicians authorized to certify deaths to complete death certificates in a timely manner and NOT to delay certifying a death in the absence of a positive test result for COVID-19, if available clinical information suggests the illness.
