North Carolina Professionals Health Program

What is the North Carolina Professionals Health Program?

The North Carolina Professionals Health Program (NCPHP) is an independent organization that assists medical professionals with recovery from substance use disorder, mental health challenges and other conditions that could impair a clinician’s ability to safely care for their patients. NCPHP’s rehabilitation programs are non-disciplinary and entirely confidential. For more information about NCPHP, visit their website at www.ncphp.org.

What services does NCPHP provide?

NCPHP provides evaluations, referrals to assessment/treatment, accountability measures and monitoring to facilitate recovery. NCPHP is most known for treating alcohol and substance use disorders, however, the program also assists with a wide range of behavioral and mental health challenges including burnout and depression. The program strives to return participants back to a life of wellness and recovery and are available 24/7.

What are the outcomes?

The goal of these services is to get participants back on track and return safely to practice. NCPHP uses the data collected from the participant’s involvement and progress in the program to support their return to the workplace, hospital credentialing, and to various licensure, insurance or credentialing boards.

Is my enrollment confidential?

Yes. Enrollment in NCPHP programs can be done completely in private. Medical professionals self-refer anonymously for help without the Board being aware of your identity. Self-referrals are recommended, as it demonstrates a proactive approach to address potential issues before patient care is impacted. If you are thinking about self-referral, you can learn more here.

Financial Assistance:

Medical professionals who face financial barriers to obtain assessment or treatment can apply for the NCPHP Treatment Scholarship Fund. The scholarship is funded through donations made by licensees of the Board and individual donors. To apply, visit this link.
