You will be contacted by the Compliance and Monitoring Staff regarding the Board’s expectations based upon the requirements in your specific document. The Compliance and Monitoring Staff will also provide you with any necessary forms and answer any questions you have about your specific compliance or monitoring process. As a general rule, interim actions, including orders for examination and interim letters of concern are handled by the Board’s Compliance Coordinator. Public final actions, including public letters of concern, consent orders, reentry agreements and final orders of discipline or licensure following a hearing are handled by the Board’s Monitoring Coordinator.
You will be monitored until you have successfully completed all the requirements in your specific document. Some Board actions contain a minimum period of time that you must demonstrate continuous and successful compliance before you are eligible to request relief or amendment.
You can request an extension of time by emailing the Compliance and Monitoring Staff assigned to your case.
Once you have identified a practice site for employment, you should submit the practice site to the Board’s Monitoring Coordinator at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) for approval by using the Practice Site Approval Form.
Please note that approval times vary from a few days to a few weeks. This should be considered in your employment process. You cannot begin practicing until you receive approval of this condition (and any additional conditions, if applicable).
Once you have identified a practice supervisor or monitor who has agreed to fulfill that role and has read your Board Order, you can submit that practitioner to the Board’s Monitoring Coordinator at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) for approval by using the Supervisor Approval Request Form. Please note that approval times vary from a few days to a few weeks. This should be considered in your employment process. You cannot begin practicing until you receive approval of this condition (and any additional conditions, if applicable).
If you are required to have your approved practice supervisor or monitor submit a chart review(s), the practice supervisor or monitor may submit their chart review(s) to the Board’s Monitoring Coordinator at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) by using the Preceptor Chart Review Form.
The following chaperone training course has been vetted and approved by the Board:
Medical Chaperone Training Program (CTP-2) hosted by PBI Education: https://pbieducation.com/courses/ctp-2/. This is an online course that takes approximately two hours to complete. The cost of the course is $55.00 per participant. “CTP-2 Mandated” should be selected as the course type and a license number is not required to complete the course (for chaperones who may not have a license number). Once the chaperone has completed the training course, the course completion certificate should be emailed to the Board’s Monitoring Coordinator at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
The Board does not have a Reentry Plan template as each situation is unique. You can search the Board’s website for previously executed reentry agreements if you would like an example(s) of reentry plans and executed reentry agreements that have been approved by the Board. The Board has general information about reentry here.
Once you have formulated a proposed reentry plan, you should submit your proposed plan to the Board’s Monitoring Coordinator at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) for approval.
Fines must be paid by check made payable to the “North Carolina Medical Board.” Unless otherwise indicated in correspondence from the Board, payment should be mailed to the attention of the Board’s Monitoring Coordinator at:

Please ensure the licensee’s name is included with the payment to facilitate proper processing.
Please note that some Board letters or Orders list specific names of courses or remedial education that should be complied with. The Compliance and Monitoring Staff will also provide you with the FSMB Remediation List and the NCMB Remediation List, which are a list of courses that have been vetted and pre-approved by the Board. These are not exclusive lists of courses vetted by the Board and licensees may opt to take a course from these lists or other similar courses. Additional courses can be found by checking with vendors you have used in the past, professional societies, colleges and universities, and other continuing education providers. A general online search may also be helpful. Please note: You must still contact the Compliance and Monitoring Staff to inform them of your course selection, even if it is from one of the pre-approved lists. Further, it is not the role of the Compliance and Monitoring Staff to identify CME or remedial courses for you.
CME or other courses are calculated by hourly course credit, not by “contact hours.”
Prior to taking the course, you must submit the following information for pre-approval: course name, course provider, number of hours, date(s) of course, course description, and web link (when possible) to the Compliance and Monitoring Staff email listed in your letter or Order. You can submit this information using the following form: CME Approval Request Form.
The Compliance and Monitoring Staff will then let you know if additional information is needed or if the course is approved. Please note that approval times vary from a day or two to a few weeks. This should be considered in your submission. You should not sign up for a course prior to receiving approval.
You must submit documentation of the course completion to the designated Compliance and Monitoring Staff. You can submit documentation here:

You must submit a written request to the Board’s Monitoring Coordinator at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) for partial or full relief of your Order. You can submit your request using the Relief of Consent Order Request Form. The request will be prepared by the Monitoring Coordinator for the next available Board meeting. You must provide all necessary information to process the request. The date of submission and information provided will impact the date your request is presented to the Board.
