Your current CME hours are accessible on our website. Log in to the Licensure Gateway using your username and password. Once logged in, hover over “My Profile” at the top right and select Licensee Information from the drop-down list. On the next page, click on Preferences/CME to view the CME hours in your current cycle. CME hours must be reported in a certain way for the database to recognize them. Use only whole numbers (no decimals) when entering your CME hours. Do not add any additional text. Please maintain at least six years of CME records in case the Board requests them.

Yes. All active licensees in NC must register their license by their renewal date (which is their birthday). This requirement applies even if the license is issued shortly before the birthday.

No. If you have not registered on time, a late fee is added 30 days after your renewal date and a certified letter will be sent to your mailing address on file with the Board. You will have an additional 30 days from the date of receipt of this letter to renew. If your renewal has not been completed online within this time period, your license will be placed on inactive status. Please note: It is unlawful to practice with an inactive license.

Yes. The Board does not require you to be actively practicing to renew your license. Be sure to remove the Practice Address from your renewal when you complete the process. If you decide to go back into practice, you must update your Practice Address within 60 days.

To request that a license be placed on inactive status, log into the Gateway and click “Inactivation.” From there you can choose the day on which you would like your license to be inactivated. Once your license has been inactivated you will receive a notification via email that this process has been completed.
