How is the board selected? Are they voted in by the medical society as a whole or are they appointed by previous members, which in my opinion leads to ineffective leadership. That may be the reason the board is not well thought of in many circles.By Clancy Laizure on Aug 23, 2016 at 9:54am
Thank you for the question, Mr. Laizure. The majority of clinician members of the Board are nominated for consideration by the Governor by an independent panel established by NC law. This process was put in place to ensure that no one professional group or interest has undue influence over Board Member selection. Public members and a single physician seat are directly appointed by the Governor. Decisions about internal Board leadership positions, as described in this article, are made by members of the Board in accordance with NCMB bylaws.By Jean Fisher Brinkley on Aug 23, 2016 at 12:06pm
