Serve with NCMB: Two physician seats available
Applicants are needed for two physician seats on the North Carolina Medical Board for terms beginning Nov. 1.
All positions must be filled by the process set down in statute (N.C. Gen. Stat. 90-2 and 90-3), which requires interested parties to apply via the Review Panel for the North Carolina Medical Board. The Review Panel is an independent body that nominates candidates for consideration by Gov. Josh Stein. By law, the Review Panel must nominate two candidates for each open seat.
One seat is currently occupied by a physician who is eligible for reappointment. Incumbents must apply for reappointment via the normal application process.
Completed applications and all supporting documentation must be received at the Review Panel’s offices on or before Friday, June 26, 2026, at 4:45 PM EST. No extensions will be granted. For more information visit this website.
The Review Panel will consider only physicians (MDs or DOs) who hold active, unrestricted NC medical licenses. Applicants must be actively practicing clinical medicine at least part time and must have no history of disciplinary action within the past five years.
NCMB recently created a resource page to help potential candidates learn more about what serving as a Board Member entails. Find it at www.ncmedboard.org/BoardService.
