The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) will present free online training sessions from August through December to support medical certifiers in completing more accurate, specific, and medically appropriate causes of death in the state’s online portal, NCDAVE. Medical certifiers include any physician, PA or NP who completes death certificates in NC.

Training will cover the importance of determining a precise cause-of-death, defining valid medical causes of death, how to use “probable” or “possible” qualifiers appropriately, and how to add supplemental information in NCDAVE when needed.
Each training session will last two hours and there is no need to register in advance.

To join a training session, follow the instructions below from NCDHHS:

1. Go to https://vitalrecords.nc.gov/index.htm
